Smart Ignition Module
The RendeRex Smart Ignition Module allows for the connection of a computer inside of a vehicle directly to the vehicles ignition (12V or 24V). This adds additional functionality, such as ignition sensing, on-off switching based on ignition behaviour, etc.,
Solution Overview
This module is designed to detect ignition signals (12 – 24V) and switch on/off loads (up to 30A). This figure illustrates the minimum required connections to switch on/off a PC with an external power button.
Operation Modes
The module can operate in different modes according to the position of the rotary switch (SW3). Below is the list of modes that the module currently supports:
Mode 0: When the ignition is turned on, the module connects power to the PC, waits for 5 seconds and then turns it on and continues to monitor the ignition. Once the ignition is turned off, the module waits 8 seconds then turns off the PC, then it disconnects power from the PC after 1 minute.
Mode 1: When the ignition is turned on, the module connects power to the PC, waits for 8 seconds and then turns it on and continues to monitor the ignition. Once the ignition is turned off, the module waits 30 seconds then turns off the PC, then it disconnects power from the PC after 3 minutes.
Mode 2: When the ignition is turned on, the module connects power to the PC, waits for 10 seconds and then turns it on and continues to monitor the ignition. Once the ignition is turned off, the module waits 60 seconds then turns off the PC, then it disconnects power from the PC after 5 minutes.
Mode 3: The module connects power to the PC and allows the user to manually turn the PC on using the power button. The user should disconnect the external power button to be able to use the PC power button.
Mode 4: The module disconnects power from the PC.
*Other modes can be added according to user requirements.
